This article explores the evolution of the Israeli Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism, highlighting its significant growth in recent years. While often known for its legal and political struggles for recognition, the movement has established about fifty active congregations across Israel offering prayer services, life-cycle ceremonies, and educational programs. The study analyzes the movement's shift from a struggle for civil rights to building grassroots communities and religious practices that are distinct from its North American counterpart. Through this analysis, the author sheds light on the broader dynamics of religion and state in Israel and the changing landscape of Israeli Jewish identity.
