"Know Where You Came From and Where You Are Going”: Jewish Renewal in Israel – Mapping Central Issues and Expected Results

This article examines the Jewish Renewal movement in Israel, situating its emergence within a broader crisis of Jewish–Israeli identity, particularly in the secular sphere. It maps the movement’s educational and cultural initiatives and argues that despite significant growth, the field suffers from a lack of conceptual clarity regarding its goals and impact. The article proposes the use of an outcomes-based logic model to distinguish between activities, outputs, and meaningful educational and social outcomes, and to support more effective evaluation, planning, and accountability in the development of Jewish Renewal initiatives.
