This article explores the revitalization of Sephardi Selichot (penitential prayers) in Israel, tracing their transformation from intimate synagogue services to large-scale public concerts and mainstream cultural events. It analyzes how these performances serve as a site for constructing and displaying Mizrahi identity within the Israeli public sphere, blending religious tradition with popular culture. The authors argue that this phenomenon reflects broader shifts in Israeli society, where "traditional" (Masorti) Judaism and Mizrahi culture are increasingly shaping the national cultural narrative.
